An inventory production tool
Karbon Zeka is built to produce greenhouse gas inventories repeatably, whether for one organisation's sites and group companies or for a portfolio of many clients. Every project carries its own methodology decisions, scope choices and report versions.

Data, straight from the client into the software
Send your client a time-limited link; without opening an account they fill in the requested items and upload the invoice. Incoming data waits in the Inbox and enters the inventory with your approval. If a second record arrives for the same period, you get a warning; a reminder for a missing period goes out automatically three days before the deadline.

One by one
The sources you selected in the scope step arrive as a ready list; the unit is suggested and an evidence document can be attached.
Bulk via CSV
Import a 12-month invoice table in one go. A template is downloadable; invalid rows are skipped and their count is reported.
Read from a document
Upload an invoice, meter record or maintenance form; consumption, unit, period, supplier and site fields are extracted and become an activity record on your approval.
Same data, same factor, same result
The engine is pure and deterministic. Results cannot be edited by hand; a correction is made only by changing the source data or the factor; every intermediate value is on screen and in the Excel breakdown.
Step by step, visible calculation
Fuel combustion follows the IPCC 2006 Tier-1 chain: from consumption to energy, from energy to gas-by-gas emissions, then to CO₂ equivalent. Every intermediate value is on screen and in the Excel breakdown; whichever step the verifier asks about, the answer is there.
Methodology and sources
Unit safety
Units are grouped into families: energy, mass, volume. Conversion happens within a family; cross-family conversion is forbidden. If a unit cannot be resolved, the engine produces no number; the record is flagged "not calculated".
Scope 2 dual reporting
Electricity is reported with both the location-based and the market-based method. Market-based priority: renewable energy certificate (I-REC / YEK-G) → supplier-specific factor → residual mix → if none of these exists, the grid average, clearly disclosed.
Biogenic CO₂ and energy units
CO₂ from biomass is not included in scope totals and is reported separately. When fuel is entered in energy units (kWh, GJ) the density-NCV step is skipped; invoice energy stated on a gross calorific value (GCV) basis is converted to net calorific value (NCV), because IPCC factors are NCV-based (0.90 for natural gas). m³ and kWh invoices therefore stay consistent in the same inventory.
Factors with a known source, year and version
Fuels, grid electricity, purchased heat/steam/cooling, refrigerants (with their real GWPs), waste, transport and the 15 Scope 3 categories.
Two data sets for Scope 3, your choice
The same category can be calculated with two different approaches, and the results differ widely. Karbon Zeka does not make that decision for you; you choose it in the Methodology step.
- Physical quantity: tonnes, litres, tonne·km, kWh
- High verifiability
- For the final inventory
- Spend amount (€); the data already sits in accounting
- Quick screening where spend data exists; rounded sector averages
- Downstream categories (9-12, 14, 15) and material items need activity data or supplier-specific data
Factors based on sector averages are marked indicative and counted in the report's uncertainty section. Scope 3 categories and a comparison of methods →
The inventory is checked before a report is produced
Error-level findings block the report; warnings and notices can be closed with a justification and are written to the audit trail. You see potential findings before the verifier does.

- Sources marked "included" in scope but with no data entered
- Sources excluded from scope but with data entered
- Zero/negative values, missing periods, records without evidence
- Duplicate records (same source + site + period)
- Records whose unit cannot be converted to the factor
- Records with an ambiguous factor match
- Factor year inconsistent with the activity period
- Records belonging to an excluded site
- Removals and carbon credits: additionality, permanence, double counting and buffer share
Report sections structured on ISO 14064-1, under your logo
Over 35 sections, each of which can be switched on or off. Report versions are stored with a content snapshot and can be restored; draft outputs carry a watermark.

Generated from system data
- Report details and cover
- Included / excluded sites and their justifications
- Emission factors used (only those actually applied)
- Totals and shares by scope and by ISO 14064-1 category
- Scope 2 location-based / market-based comparison
- Emissions and intensity indicators by site
- Annex A: evidence document index · Annex B: records left outside the boundary
ISO 14064-1 reporting content
- Base year and recalculation policy (significance threshold configurable, 5% by default)
- Biogenic CO₂ emissions
- Uncertainty assessment, with real numbers
- Verification status (type of verification and level of assurance)
- Assumptions and limitations
Greenhouse gas removals (sinks) are reported in a separate section, as ISO 14064-1 requires, and are not netted against emissions; purchased carbon credits are kept apart from both.
